地域共同テクノセンター Cooperative Research and Development Center

　本センターは、学生に対する技術者教育を行うとともに、民間企業を含む佐世保工業高等専門学校と他の組織 の間の共同研究を支援し促進するために平成24年４月１日に設置された（「総合技術教育研究センター」を改組）。 組織は５つの部門（海洋・エネルギー、環境・生物、IT、加工計測システム、生涯学習部門）から構成されている。 部門横断的な「融合研究」により技術シーズの蓄積を図るとともに、実践的で創造性に優れた「もの創り」技術 者の育成を支援している。また、当該地域の産学官民運携組織である「西九州テクノコンソーシアム」と一体と なって、地域の「技術振興」と「人材育成」を図るための活動を積極的に推進している。

　The Cooperative Research and Development Center was established in Aprillst2012, it was reorganized from the comprehensive technical education research center. The purpose ofthis center is engineer education for student in Sasebo National college of Technology （SNCT）, and to support and promote cooperative researches between SNCT and other organizations including private enterprises in the local community （Northern Naga- saki）.The Center consists of five divisions （marine development, biological environment, information processing, manufacturing measurement system and engineer reeducation）The Center contributes to the local area through collecting sources for research in cross-sectional fields, developing local enterprises through joint research projects ortechnical assistance,and promoting activities for educating the local citizens. The Center also helps develop the practical and creative engineers for the local community. All these activities are being carried on in coordination with Nishikyushu Techno Consortium.　

（１）海洋・エネルギー部門 Marine electronic device development and Energy applicatjon division

　　本部門では、海洋生態系に影響を与える船舶のバラスト水処理技術の開発やプラズマエネルギーのバイオ・医療分野への応川研究、機能性薄膜やナノ結晶の作製などの先瑞材料プロセスに関する研究や、コンパクトな自律型海中ロボット、支援母船と海中ロボットの測位システムの開発を行っている。

In this division, efforts are being devoted to the development of systems for marine research, such as compact autonomous underwater vehicles, underwater acoustic communication systems, and SSBL(Super Short Base Line) positioning systems to observe directions and bearings of the autonomous underwater vehicle from its support vessel.Autonomous underwater vehicles can be used for investing in the marine environment, living aquatic resources and underwater archeology.

（２）環境・生物部門　Environment and Biology Division

　本部門では、長崎県の主要産業の一つである水産業と地域の環境関連事業に貢献するために、海洋生物環境の浄化や海洋微生物による有用物質の生産、及び光触媒などの環境浄化材料や環境浄化技術に関する共同研究、研究会、技術相談を積極的に行っている。

The main aim of this division is, in collaboration with various private companies, to promote technological development concerning biotic environments and marine environments in particular, in order to contribute to the development of fisheries, the leading industry in Nagasaki Prefecture. At our college, the chemical and biological departments take charge of most of this research. One of the major outcomes is research into the construction of artificial habitats using carbon fiber. This is a joint research project with Sasebo Technological Advancement Cooperation.

（３）ＩＴ部門　lnformation Technology Division

　本部門では、画像計測、アプリケーションソフトなどの情報処理技術、及びロボットなどの電子制御技術についての研究を行っている。

This division is engaged in the research of information processing technology, such as; (1) the development of measuring system through image processing or of application software; and (2) electronic control engineering concerning robotics, etc.

（４）加工計測システム部門 Manufacturing Measurement Division

　 本部門では、歯車切削・プラスチック研削などの機械加工、材料強度試験・破壊原因解析、そして各種機械における振動、熱・流動、制御などの問題について研究および技術相談を行っている。

This division is engaged in the research and technical consultation with respect to: (1) manufacturing issues, such as in the case of gear hobbing, grinding of plastic materials and so on; (2) the issues of material strength, like a test on the strength of materials or the analysis of the causes of breaking; and (3) vibration and hydrodynamics issues of various machines.

（５）生涯学習部門 Lifelong Learning Division

本部門の主な役割は以下の1〜4です。

1. 公開講座の推進　若年層（小中学生）対象に４専門学科ＭＥＳＣの内容をわかりやすくアピ−ルします。
   
2. 「一般教養講座」の直轄運営　一般社会人対象に一般科目教員による独自な講座をラインアップしています。最近では、「大人のためのドリル—天気図作成にチャレンジしてみませんか—」「絵本を楽しむ—しかけ絵本—」「親子おもしろ実験教室—牛乳パックカメラをつくって写真を撮影しよう—」「哲学カフェ—内と外とはどういうことか？—」「佐世保の中心をさがしてみよう—地図を使いこなす—」等を開催しました。
   
3. 出前授業・研修講師派遣・技術援助・イベント参加等の窓口
   本校は地域連携事業の一環として、全校を挙げて取り組んでいます。そのために、

This division is engaged in educating the general public in the following way:

1. Publicizing through Open Campus Lectures — in order to make the content of our courses more familiar to elementary and junior high school students.
   
2. Promotion of Open Campus Lectures by the General Education Faculty −in order to educate the general public. The recent programs are as follows."How about Making a Weather Chart?""Enjoying Picture Story Books"and"Taking Pictures with a Milk Carton Camera.""Caf'e Philo—What is Inside and Outside?" and"Let's Search for the Center of Sasebo—Making Use of Maps,"etc.
   
3. Working as a Collaborator for Outer Schools, Providing Technical Support, Holding Participation Events in order to promote cooperation with the local community.
   
4. Serving as point of contact for educational facilities in municipalities.
